We are very excited that our latest film - "The Sleeping Beauty of East Finchley" - has now been completed. This is by far our biggest undertaking yet, as it is 50 minutes long - three times as long as our previous films.
Sleeping Beauty was shot as part of the Various Voices Festival, a 4 day festival of gay and lesbian choirs from all over the world which took over the entire South Bank complex over the bank holiday weekend of May 1 – 4 2009. The marvellous locations include the Holy Redeemer Church Exmouth Market and the Purcell Room at the Royal Festival Hall.
One of the major challenges of this production was that we had to put together our very own lesbian choir! The choir, entitled "The Friends of Dusty" has recorded some wonderful music for the soundtrack of the film!
And we are thrilled that the lead role is played by Josie Walker, an extraordinary singing-actress who has played the leading female roles in the West End productions of "Phantom of the Opera" and "The Beautiful Game" (for which she received an Olivier nomination). Josie finished a sell-out run in the West End of Alan Bennett's black comedy, "Enjoy", with Alison Steadman, just before filming began.
We hope to be announcing the world premiere of our new film in the not too distant future. |
